Two Very Different Weekends...

Lucy and I have been sick this weekend. So we've pretty much just napped, ate chicken noodle soup, and whimpered about.

Last weekend was much more exciting, so I'll update you with photos from last weekend. You're welcome for not sharing any photos from this weekend.

Last Friday we decided to try something different. We went to the Greek Island restaurant in downtown Indy. The food was good, not very expensive, and the entertainment was priceless. Why this restaurant was so entertaining?

1. The kids meal starts off with a BOX of crayons. Not just three crayons (two of which are usually some form of yellow), but an entire box of at least 10 different colors.

2. There was a girl doing Greek dances with little finger cymbals. Lucy was very impressed. At one point the dancer even had someone play a hand drum while she danced. Lucy kept clapping for her.
Lucy would not look at us, she was too busy checking out this dancing girl!
3. Lucy loved when each table ordered the flaming cheese (it actually has a Greek name, but I can't remember it). Anyhow, they bring a dish of cheese to your table and light it on fire, and the whole place shouts "Opa!" Lucy would raise her hands in the air and yell "Opa!" and slam them down onto the table. The photos below seem to capture the sounds :)

Lucy has reached a point in her life, that whenever she sees a dog she wants to make sure everyone around her is also aware of it's existence
If the flaming cheese and dancing entertainment wasn't enough for one weekend, we followed it up with a trip to the Indianapolis State Fair on Saturday morning. Not quite the same as the Wisconsin State Fair. The Indiana fair seems to have less cheese and more corn. Which by the way, is the BEST CORN I HAVE TASTED IN MY LIFE. No, seriously, I wish I could order that stuff all year round. It may be my new pregnancy craving. There's got to be some sort of top secret to that corn. It was awesome.

Lucy had a great time meeting all of the animals. It was nicely setup and had a lot of activities for kids.

Afterwards, we went to Nana and Papas. We saw Kelly and Jason's new house and I got to cuddle little Jacob and Benjamin.

Overall, a great weekend!

Oh by the way, Lucy has found her belly button. If anyone is curious, just ask her where it is, and she will gladly show you. Just beware, once she shows you hers, she will go looking for yours....

Pregnancy Brain

Well, my number 1 symptom from Lucy's pregnancy has returned... I've lost my mind again!

I went the wrong way to work this morning. Instead of going south I drove north. And once I realized my mistake I almost broke out into tears.

When I was pregnant with Lucy I would do really weird things, and had issues making complete sentences. I remember asking someone to "pass the cards" and I asked for them to "pass the carrots".

Oy vey. Here's the start of 19 weeks of pregnancy brain.

Gender Reveal

Kyle and I had a preliminary gender scan done on the babies. We'll get an official scan at our ultrasound next week!

Instead of "left" and "right" my nurse called them "A" and "B". Here are the puzzles that we gave our parents to figure out what gender baby left and baby right are 95% likely to be:

Family Update

I love when my dad brings his totally awesome camera places.
Usually we end up with wonderful photos like these:

Note: It always seems like I'm taking the pictures and am never actually in the pictures. It's nice having a dad who's good at taking photos.

I just LOVE my little family. I'm excited for it to grow bigger, but I just can't picture it being anymore perfect than it already is!

In other news, Reggie turned 3 this week. I remember bringing him home from the shelter (on my lap in the car), wondering if he'd ever get to 30 pounds. Weighing in at over 50 pounds, Reggie has been one of my greatest loves in life. (Right up there with the two people in the picture above). We haven't done much to celebrate his birthday. But his best friend Kiki will be visiting this weekend. Hopefully we get some nice weather and can take them to the dog park and let them just run around and play. Happy birthday Reggie! I love you!

In other other news. I'm 17 weeks pregnant with twins. The other night I had some cramping, which worried me, but everything seems to be back to normal. I'll be happy once I start getting regular ultrasounds again. I guess it's a good sign that I haven't had very many. It means that I have had a pretty problem-free pregnancy thus far. We go to Maternal Fetal Medicine on August 12th. We'll have a full scan of each baby. August 12th just seems so far away!!

Each baby should be about the size of an onion. However, I already feel like I have an entire watermelon growing inside of me. Random strangers have started to ask when I'm due... I guess that's the sign that I really do look pregnant!

Great grandpa's birthday

Just returned home from an awesome family trip to Wisconsin to celebrate my grandpa's 80th birthday.

I just had to post this cute photo before I went to bed. Love them both! Happy birthday grandpa!

Miss Destructive

Lucy is a great kid!

Recently she has found a new, fun, game.... It's called "making a mess and watching momma and daddy follow her around cleaning everything up". She enjoys taking things off of the shelves. Taking our dirty laundry out of the hamper and wearing it around the house. As well as climbing into places that she's not suppose to be. I guess this is all part of being a 14 month old!

An Extra Hand...

Smell that? That's the smell of a clean bathroom counter.

Hear that? That's the sound of the dishwasher running.

And that? Oh, that's my baby, happily playing with her toys.

A few weeks ago, two high school students from our apartment complex posted an ad looking for summer jobs. I called one of them, and she comes over twice a week, for about 2 hours. She helps with the cleaning, tidying up, and playing with the baby. Since I don't have to do all of my normal chores (empty/load the dishwasher, walk the dogs, take out the trash*, etc.), Lucy and I get to just play, or snuggle, or play peek-a-boo, or eat. Whatever Lucy is in the mood for, we do! It has been so nice to just enjoy time with her. She's growing up so fast. And she is so much fun at this age. Kyle and I think that this is going to be our favorite age.

*OK, I don't actually ever take out the trash, but Kyle does. And it helps him out too :)

In other news, I had an appointment with my doctor this week. No ultrasound, just heartbeat checks. Little left had a heartbeat of 155. Right was a little less cooperative and had a heartbeat somewhere between 145-150.

My 20 week ultrasound got moved to the maternal and fetal medicine department. Since there are two babies, the maternal and fetal medicine group does slightly more in depth checks at the 20 weeks appointment.

Well that's my update. Time to go enjoy my little family!

Barefoot Hippie

Kyle likes to call Lucy our "barefoot hippie". Well this week she's graduating from the infant room to the toddler room at school. Wouldn't be a huge deal, except, they wear shoes.

Nana took Lucy to buy her first real pair of shoes (other than her crocs for Nuna). Here's a photo of Lucy in her new shoes, all ready for the toddler class (please ignore the mess in the car).

Hopefully Lucy gets used to these shoes. So far, she doesn't quite understand why anyone would put these silly things on their feet!!

Wordless Wednesday

Still taking swim lessons with daddy. They made their first solo trip (I didn't go to help out). They did great.

I love looking in my backseat and seeing her little face!

Night night!

The Squatters Have Grown…

Oh how things have changed now that I have a one year old. When I was pregnant with Lucy, I'd post about my ultrasounds and appointments within a few hours.

Well I'm a bit behind, so I'll report both updates in one posting. Two weeks ago I had an  8 1/2 week appointment. Both Left and Right were doing well. They both measured right on track. Left had a heartbeat of 168. Right's heartbeat was one point higher at a 169. The nurse thought that they both looked great.

Close up of Left

Little Left and Right

Well today we got to see them again (see I'm already doing better at prompt posting), and they looked like real little babies (not just alien blobs). Right was very active and kept kicking left in the head. After a few kicks, Left started throwing his arms around.
It was so neat to see both babies growing right on track. Left measured 3.49cm and Right measured 3.92cm. Right's heartbeat was 157 bpm and Left's was 158 bpm. (Lucy was 3.46cm at her 10 week and 3 days appointment with a heartbeat of 174).

I don't go for another ultrasound until 20 weeks! I just have to trust that they both keep growing. (And to think that I thought 2 weeks was a long wait).

As for me, I'm still feeling fine. No cravings or morning sickness. A little bit of heartburn. I've had some cramping. That had me worried, since I never had that with Lucy, but the doctor said that it's pretty normal with multiples and that I just need to take it easy... I'm not sure exactly how to "take it easy" when I have a 13 month old running around destroying things, but I'm trying....

*Note - Destroying includes: pulling everything off of the shelves, putting her toys in the dogs' water dish, and making a mess wherever she goes. Some say that's just being a one year old. She will grow out of this, right??

Uh-oh...

Lucy is now walking... fast.

She likes to climb.

She calls any furry animal a "Dog"

She says words like "nana" and "dada" and "nuna".

She's starting to get her top two teeth (she's a late "teeth" bloomer)

She's moving from bottles to sippy cups and from formula to whole milk.

She also picks things up, throws them on the ground and says "uh-oh". I even caught her say "uh-oh" before she threw her toy on the floor today.

My little baby girl is growing up fast.

In other news. The squatters are doing well. My 7-week appointment went well. They were measuring right on track. I'll be 8w5d tomorrow, and we go in for another check up. Hopefully they're both still doing well, and growing big and strong!

Still no morning sickness or cravings. I keep telling Kyle that since I have no symptoms (like last time) that I think it's two more girls! I guess we'll have to wait 12 more weeks to know for sure :)

Squatters

Less than 20 months ago, I was posting this: Speck or Fleck? We had seen Lucy (or "Spleckle", as I had nicknamed her), and her itty bitty heart beat for the first time.

Well today I got to see our little squatters, who are hopefully getting nice and cozy inside my uterus. Two strong heartbeats, both measuring right on track at 6 weeks and 2 days.

6 weeks is very early to get excited. There's still a significantly large chance that one or both of my squatters could pack up and leave (trust me, I've googled "chance of miscarriage with twins at 6 weeks" and every version of that statement at least 100 times today). But for now, I'm pregnant with twins, and I'm going to just enjoy this. Hopefully it'll last for a long long time (but just not for more than 34 more weeks, please!)
My Squatters
*Dr. B thought that they look like two little Owl's eyes :) But calling them "left eye" and "right eye" sounded a little too TLC-ish.

Wordless Monday :)

Bringing back wordless Wednesday

I'm thinking about bringing back wordless Wednesdays. All in favor say "I"

Dear Lucy - 11 Months

Dear Lucy,

I can't believe you're already 11 months old! For the first time in my life, I've started to wonder, "where has time gone". I guess that you've made me realize that life goes by pretty fast when you're having fun!

This last month, you've grown up so much. Yesterday you took 2-3 steps! You're growing more everyday. One of our favorite rituals is to brush our teeth (both of yours) together.

It seems like everyday you learn something new. You learned to crawl fast, clap your hands, blow kisses, wave hello and good bye, and your cousin yoshi even taught you to pick your nose.

Your face lights up when Reggie comes near. Sometimes you'll just sit on my lap and Reggie will put his head on my lap next to you. You will take your cheeks and rubs them against Reggie's soft ears and look up at me and giggle. I think he's your best friend. You like to try to sneak him some of your food when I'm not looking.

You are as cute as a button, and any button will encapsulate all of your attention. That goes for zippers, ribbons, or tags too.

You can find the smallest freckle. You like to try to wipe them away with one finger.

Luckily you still love to be held at night. One night, you were asleep, so dadda put you in your crib for the night. A little while later he saw me holding you; he asked ", did she wake up?" I said ", no, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to just hold her while she sleeps." and so there I sat just holding and staring at my perfect little baby girl.

Please don't grow up too fast. I love you just the way you are.

I'll always love you anyway,

Your momma
