A & B are now A & N :)

I remember when I was pregnant with Lucy people would often ask "have you picked out a name?" When I'd tell them we did, and that we were going with Lucy, I would usually get positive feedback.

I remember someone telling me (with a disappointing look) "Oh, that's my dogs name. You should go with Lily instead." I felt like responding with "I'm sorry that you named your dog a human name, and not a dog's name like Spot or Fido." But instead I just smiled and said "I'll think about it."

Let's be honest, I wasn't going to "think about it". It had taken Kyle and I months to agree on Lucy! So here we've been, tossing names back and forth for a few months. Nothing too matchy or twiny. Had to sound nice with the name Lucy. Nothing spelled incorrectly (Kyle's pet peeve). Plus this time we had to come up with two names. After much thought and debate we decided to go with our favorites from our first pregnancy (aside from Lucy)...

Drumroll please... Little Right and Baby Left will officially be Audrey and Nolan! And if you don't like those names and would like to suggest something else, "I'll think about it." :)

Bitty Bites!

Last weekend we went apple picking at Anderson Orchards. It was a lot of fun and Lucy LOVED it. Her newest word is now "app-ah" which sounds very similar to her word "up-pah". So we've learned to just hand her an apple and lift her up :)

I never realized how little a one year old's bite marks would be... Especially a one year old with only two bottom teeth. I tried to take a picture of the apple, but Lucy would get pretty upset when I tried to touch her apple... If you look at the bottom edge of the apple skin, you can see how little her bites are. It took her quite a few bites to get this far!!

Overall a great experience and the start of my favorite family annual tradition :)

Momma or Dadda??

New parents sometimes wonder "will it be mom or dad first?". The first word for any child is very special. It's written in the baby books, and will be a topic of discussion when your little one ends up having their first little one. *For the record, my mom doesn't remember my first word, and that page on my baby book is blank (cue second child syndrome complaint here).

Lucy's first word was dog. And her second word was ball. From there she went on to say Nana and Nuna. Then she started whispering papa and saying words like nose and balloon. Next she learned all of the sounds the animals make, like the cat, the lion, the horse, and sheep. She even started giving us commands like "no" and "more".

As of recently, Lucy has finally started saying mama and daddy. And it melts our heart each time. Even though neither was her first, second, or even tenth word, we love how much she smiles each time she calls us by name :)

Yep, even bubble made the vocab list before mama :)

22 Weeks Pregnant

Well I'm just about 22 weeks pregnant. And I feel huge! We had a 20 week appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine back on the 8/19. Kyle's mom went with, and we watched the ultrasound tech check for every little body part... twice.

Baby Right had an estimated weight of 12 oz. That would put her in the 40th percentile.

Baby Left had an estimated weight of 15 oz. Putting him in the 93rd percentile!

It was very reassuring that they were both growing on track! I was a bit nervous for a minute. The tech kept looking at baby Right's heart. Then she'd go measure something else, and then go back to look at the heart. I was worried something was wrong. After putting myself through the most terrible mind game of "Let's think of all of the worst case scenarios", I finally asked her if there was an issue. She immediately said "Oh no, just not getting a good angle" and that baby Left kept trying to photobomb the picture :). Phew!

Here are the photos from left and right's twenty week photo shoot:
"Little" Left. I think his profile looks a lot like Lucy!

Baby Right trying to pose for the camera! The tech had troubles getting her pictures and measurements!

Who doesn't like to see itty bitty baby hands?!?
Lucy is growing faster than we can keep up. She's learning all of the different parts of the body, and can mimic the noise of quite a few animals (she's ventured past just the dog). Everyday it's like she's learned three new things!

Two Very Different Weekends...

Lucy and I have been sick this weekend. So we've pretty much just napped, ate chicken noodle soup, and whimpered about.

Last weekend was much more exciting, so I'll update you with photos from last weekend. You're welcome for not sharing any photos from this weekend.

Last Friday we decided to try something different. We went to the Greek Island restaurant in downtown Indy. The food was good, not very expensive, and the entertainment was priceless. Why this restaurant was so entertaining?

1. The kids meal starts off with a BOX of crayons. Not just three crayons (two of which are usually some form of yellow), but an entire box of at least 10 different colors.

2. There was a girl doing Greek dances with little finger cymbals. Lucy was very impressed. At one point the dancer even had someone play a hand drum while she danced. Lucy kept clapping for her.
Lucy would not look at us, she was too busy checking out this dancing girl!
3. Lucy loved when each table ordered the flaming cheese (it actually has a Greek name, but I can't remember it). Anyhow, they bring a dish of cheese to your table and light it on fire, and the whole place shouts "Opa!" Lucy would raise her hands in the air and yell "Opa!" and slam them down onto the table. The photos below seem to capture the sounds :)

Lucy has reached a point in her life, that whenever she sees a dog she wants to make sure everyone around her is also aware of it's existence
If the flaming cheese and dancing entertainment wasn't enough for one weekend, we followed it up with a trip to the Indianapolis State Fair on Saturday morning. Not quite the same as the Wisconsin State Fair. The Indiana fair seems to have less cheese and more corn. Which by the way, is the BEST CORN I HAVE TASTED IN MY LIFE. No, seriously, I wish I could order that stuff all year round. It may be my new pregnancy craving. There's got to be some sort of top secret to that corn. It was awesome.

Lucy had a great time meeting all of the animals. It was nicely setup and had a lot of activities for kids.

Afterwards, we went to Nana and Papas. We saw Kelly and Jason's new house and I got to cuddle little Jacob and Benjamin.

Overall, a great weekend!

Oh by the way, Lucy has found her belly button. If anyone is curious, just ask her where it is, and she will gladly show you. Just beware, once she shows you hers, she will go looking for yours....

Pregnancy Brain

Well, my number 1 symptom from Lucy's pregnancy has returned... I've lost my mind again!

I went the wrong way to work this morning. Instead of going south I drove north. And once I realized my mistake I almost broke out into tears.

When I was pregnant with Lucy I would do really weird things, and had issues making complete sentences. I remember asking someone to "pass the cards" and I asked for them to "pass the carrots".

Oy vey. Here's the start of 19 weeks of pregnancy brain.

Gender Reveal

Kyle and I had a preliminary gender scan done on the babies. We'll get an official scan at our ultrasound next week!

Instead of "left" and "right" my nurse called them "A" and "B". Here are the puzzles that we gave our parents to figure out what gender baby left and baby right are 95% likely to be:

and...
