New parents sometimes wonder "will it be mom or dad first?". The first word for any child is very special. It's written in the baby books, and will be a topic of discussion when your little one ends up having their first little one. *For the record, my mom doesn't remember my first word, and that page on my baby book is blank (cue second child syndrome complaint here).
Lucy's first word was
dog. And her second word was
ball. From there she went on to say
Nana and
Nuna. Then she started whispering
papa and saying words like
nose and
balloon. Next she learned all of the sounds the animals make, like the cat, the lion, the horse, and sheep. She even started giving us commands like "
no" and "
more".
As of recently, Lucy has
finally started saying
mama and
daddy. And it melts our heart each time. Even though neither was her first, second, or even tenth word, we love how much she smiles each time she calls us by name :)
