Halloween
A few years ago, Kyle and I had a heart to heart. We discussed a feeling that we both harbored... We both grossly dislike dressing up for Halloween. So every mid-October, Kyle will ask me "So, what are you going to be for Halloween?"
My reply "NOTHING! You?"
"Nothing!"
We don't hate Halloween. We're not the grinch of October 31st. I actually enjoy buying nice candy for the trick-o-treaters (I strive to have the best candy on the block, but no chocolate, of course). I loved picking out my costume as a child. But it's just different as an adult.
As Halloween approaches this year, I've been asked "so what is Lucy going to be for Halloween?" My response, "nothing, just like her momma and daddy". I promise that once she's old enough to walk and eat candy, I'll buy her what ever Halloween costume that she wants (though, I'm not designing a Totoro costume. Nor am I sewing anything extravagent). And I'll let her daddy walk her around the neighborhood, while I stay at home and take pride handing out my super-sized super ropes (Hey, I've gotta look out for all of the other non-chocolate eaters out there!)
So don't be disappointed if you check in on November first and there aren't any pictures of Lucy as a Lion or Duck.

Alles Geburtstag Auntie Chris! (and Yoshi too!)
My little sister is a year older.
She spent her birthday like this:
The rest of our trip to Boston was a lot of fun. Christine and Kevin are excellent hosts. Kev is a great cook!
We had dinner with Christine's residency friends.
Lucy got to meet Kevin's parents.
When we got back to Indiana, we went over to my parents and celebrated Yoshi's 3rd birthday... It feels like just yesterday that he turned two. Remember this?
Here are some photos from Yoshi's birthday:
I love this photo:

Boston - Part 1
Lucy with her Nuna |
Yesterday morning my mom and I got up super early to catch the first flight out to Boston. Yes, my wonderful husband also woke up early to make sure we had everything ready (thanks honey).
Good thing Nuna came with. I'm pretty sure there's a zero percent chance we would've made it just Lucy and I.
Lucy's first plane ride! |
Lucy went on her first plane ride and she did alright. She fell asleep before we took off and didn't wake up until after we landed. I think that deserves a passing grade :)
Lucy met her (white) Uncle Kevin and (dog) cousin Wrigley.
Cool dog. Great name. |
Kevin, feeding the baby while we shop (what a good guy) |
Today we went shopping and on a nice walk. We went to the salon so mom could get her hair cut. Tonight we're getting dinner with Christine and her friends to celebrate Christine's birthday!

So far a nice relaxing weekend with my favorite people!

Dear Lucy - 5 months
My little Luce Goose. Or as daddy likes to call you, his little Snoop-a-Lou. You are the most wonderful five month old EVER. You continue to grow and develop. This past month you have amazed me with all that you have learned. I love to just watch you think and figure things out. You love playing with toys, and have mastered the ability to pick them up and bring them straight to your mouth. I laugh over your first experiences with baby food. After much research and debate, we went with sweet potatoes, and you like to lick the spoon and then think about what it is that you’re tasting. I wonder what it must be like “tasting” things for the first time.
In just 5 months, you have taught me so much.
You have taught me that my mother deserves on huge pat on the back and a great big hug. I now realize that even when I make/made her mad, that she loves me more than words could ever express… she always has.
You have taught me that there are only 52 weekends in a year. That means I only have about 30 more weekends before you are one year old. I have new criteria for weekends. I need to make them count, as it is an opportunity to spend 48 hours with the two people that I love most.
You have taught me that all friendships need to be evaluated and appreciated.
You’ve taught me that a child’s love is the most rewarding love one can ever feel. I look at you and can sense the love you feel towards me.
It’s only been 5 months, but time is already going too fast. If you don’t mind, please slow time down a bit, so that I can continue to enjoy these moments.
I’ll always love you anyway.
Love,
Your momma
